It replaces the position statement on marijuana laws published in the May 1979 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry. The statement was prepared by the Committee on Drug Abusea of the Council on Psychiatric Services and was approved by the Assembly in November 1986 and by the Board of Trustees in December 1986.
