Abstract

For pt.I see ibid., vol.20, p.1327 (1987). A block-scaling method, applied previously to the Ising model with a transverse field in one dimension, is extended to two (2D) and three (3D) dimensions at T=0. The model in question has been considered on hexagonal, triangular and square lattices in 2D for small cells (the size ns=4 or 5) up to second order in the inter-cell interactions as well as for a number of larger cells in 2D and 3D up to first order in the perturbation. It is demonstrated that the extension yields a consistent global treatment of quantum and disorder effects and a substantial improvement in the numerical values of the correlation length exponent nu .
