Abstract

Position sensitive detectors used in heavy ion physics experiments include silicon detectors, gas filled ionization chambers, time projection chambers, proportional detectors, scintillation and gas streamer/spark counters. Some examples of current nuclear physics experiments are presented, where the application of the latest developments of position sensitive detectors is essential for their success.
