Abstract

A position-sensitive detector for detection of low-energy charged particles is described. The detector is a channel electron multiplier array with a linear resistive anode. Experiments, in which the relative position between the detector and a collimated ultraviolet beam was changed, showed the spatial resolution to be a few tenths of a millimeter. The results are applied to a miniature Mattauch-Herzog mass spectrometer.
