Abstract
Since the late 1960s, intertextuality, the analysis of the nature and function of relationships between texts, has been one of the many ways to explore a literary text. Three decades later, the concept of intermediality was defined to describe the dialogues between art forms. How can Kristeva’s theoretical insights be used to analyse concrete texts? After a theoretical introduction, this article discusses the relationship of Hans Faverey’s poems to the visual arts, in particular their connections to different types of still life. It focuses on two series of poems by Faverey, analysed in the light of the works of Max Ernst and Adriaen Coorte.
