Abstract

Health outcomes for opioid users are poor, with high mortality and morbidity for both drug-related diseases, and conditions not typically considered drug-related. However, very little research has investigated how this population engages with the healthcare system, particularly planned and primary care. This study investigates the healthcare resource use (HCRU) of illicit opioid users relative to a matched population of non-users.
