Abstract

Gordonia species are aerobic and slow-growing gram-positive pathogens that rarely cause human infections. However, previous published case reports indicate that Gordonia species can cause unusual human infections in patients who are immunocompromised or have indwelling catheters. Furthermore, they are uncommon bacilli in patients with peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP). Gordonia aichiensis originally belonged to the genus Rhodococcus and was classified in 1994 as Gordona on the basis of wall characteristics.
