Abstract

Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) causes defects in capillary endothelium which can lead to renal allograft damage. TMA may occur as recurrent or de novo in renal transplant recipients. This is relatively rare, yet, can have significant impact on graft survival. Genetic abnormalities associated with post transplant thrombotic microangiopathy are yet to be fully elucidated.
