Abstract
Activation of Notch2 signaling protects podocytes from apoptosis and delays disease progression in Adriamycin (ADR) induced nephrosis, animal models of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Our microarray analysis of cultured podocytes showed that Notch2 activation induced Chemokine C-C motif Ligand 5 (Ccl5), a molecule that provides neuroprotective activities for astrocytes and mouse hippocampal cell line. This project aims to investigate the role of Ccl5 in protecting podocytes and glomeruli.
