Abstract

The effect of cholecalciferol (25OHD) therapy on parathormone levels (PTH) have been well studied in CKD. However, the endocrine effect of daily vs weekly or monthly treatment regimens of 25OHD supplementation on biomarkers of bone formation and resorption are not known. We investigated the effect of 25OHD supplementation on the bone biomarkers (Bone alkaline phosphatase (BAP), tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), C terminal telopeptide of type 1 collagen (CTX), N terminal propeptide of type 1 procollagen (PINP), sclerostin) in children with CKD stages 2-4.
