Abstract
Renal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is one of the major causes of acute kidney injury (AKI). Resveratrol is a natural compound found in a wide range of plant species, including grapes, and recent studies have shown that it has potential benefits in animal models of renal I/R injury. However, it is not known whether these results justify clinical trials. Here, we aim to evaluate the preclinical evidence, and possible mechanism of action, for resveratrol treatment in animal models of renal I/R injury.
