Abstract

Long-term androgen suppression (AS) with external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) may be one of the most effective treatments for patients with locally advanced prostate cancer. Alternatively, long-term AS may make bone mineral density (BMD), fat metabolism, anemia and other physiological factors get worse. We are now working on randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing adjuvant IAS vs. continuous AS (CAS) following 14-month of AS and EBRT for patients with locally advanced prostate cancer (Prostate 63: 56, 2005).
