Abstract

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Most of the patients experience mild to moderate disease. It mainly affects the respiratory tract but other organs may be involved especially the kidney. The incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with COVID-19 is not well described in Sub-Saharan Africa. We assessed the incidence and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients developing AKI in a critical care unit at a private hospital.
