Abstract

Acute kidney injury (AKI) contributes to high morbidity and mortality worldwide. It can be defined using the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) system that uses increased serum creatinine or decreased urine output (urine volume <0.5 ml/kg/h for 6 hours) as their base criteria. According to the Li Yang study, the etiology and presentation of AKI in different regions are influenced by changes in climate and socioeconomic development in Asia.1
