Abstract

This paper deals with the advantages of using Pathloss and CelPlan softwares to develop a radio link project. The project was developed using primarily Pathloss and then CelPlan. Furthermore, this paper compares data from software simulations with mathematical calculations and values from radio equipment monitoring to show the accuracy of simulators to design a radio link. The simulation shows that the use of Earth Correction Factor associated with Fresnel Zone is essential in the analysis of the radio link. Comparing the simulated reception level values, obtained from Matlab, CelPlan and Pathloss with radio equipment monitoring, it was show that CelPlan software approaches the real values of links implanted in the field. Keywords: Radio link, Pathloss, CelPlan, Fresnel Zone and Equivalent Radius of the Earth.
