Portal and Hepatic Vein Embolization (PVE/HVE) in Patients with Small Future Liver Remnants (FLR) - First Worldwide DRAGON 1 Experience

Abstract

Introduction: Patients with Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastases (CRLM) and small Future Liver Remnants (FLR) often require FLR-hypertrophy inducing procedures to minimize the risk of Post Hepatectomy Liver Failure (PHLF). Portal Vein embolization (PVE) is the current standard to do so, but combined Portal and Hepatic Vein Embolization (PVE/HVE) might be superior. In the DRAGON 1 trial (NCT04272931) the safety and feasibility of PVE/HVE will be assessed. The DRAGON 1 trial will be followed by the international multicenter randomized controlled DRAGON 2 trial.
