Abstract
THE mass spectrometer illustrated below was developed at the Westinghouse Research Laboratory in East Pittsburgh as a tool for some routine gas analysis problems. A rather complicated mass spectrometer had been used for this work ; experience with this apparatus indicated that it would be desirable to have a compact, self-contained unit that could be moved to the position where a gas analysis was desired. The result of this was the development of the present instrument.
