Abstract

Abstract Field kits for the determination of TDI have, in the past, been based on diazotization of the collected hydrolyzed sample. A new reaction based on the reagent glutaconic aldehyde has been utilized whereby the analysis becomes more rapid and less complex. An exclusive feature is that the concentration of TDI is indicated during the time the sample is being taken, thus making it possible to locate high concentrations at once. This is in contrast to the diazotization procedure, where the determination must be made after the sample has been taken. The method easily detects 0.005 ppm TDI in a 1-cubic-foot air sample.
