Abstract

Both perinatal depression (PN) and periodontal disease (PD) are prevalent and associated with negative maternal and fetal outcomes. Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), the leading microbe implicated in PD, induces immune changes and translocates to distant sites, including the placenta. We have previously reported positive associations between PgK6 serotype IgG and cardinal symptoms of depression. Now, we explore links between Pg serotypes and perinatal depression scores.
