Abstract

The design and synthesis of supramolecular assemblies derived from poprhyrins which are ranging from new hemoprotein models to self-assembled porphyrin wires and functional rotaxanes will be discussed. The properties of wires and light-responsive rotaxanes architectures as well as molecular break junctions derived from phenanthroline and bipyridine strapped porphyrins will be detailed, emphasizing the importance of weak interactions in the design and the properties of functional self-assemblies Figure 1
