Abstract

Further improvement of labor productivity, cost reduction, and quality improvement of ceramic products is intimately related to the use of automatic lines. Gypsum models form one of the weak areas in the manufacture of hollow ceramic parts. The insufficient mechanical strength (1-2 MPa) and low thermal stability (~60~ of gypsum result in low operational parameters of the molds. These shortcomings show up especially when using gypsum molds in semiautomatic lines of the type "Servis." The intense mechanical action and the high temperature of the drying agent (up to 300~ set a limit to the turnover factor of the gypsum molds up to 40-60 cycles [i].
