Abstract

In this study, we report the preparation of honeycomb derived porous biocarbon by pyrolysis. Its porous structure was identified by SEM and BET analysis. The electrochemical characteristic of porous carbon modified glassy carbon electrode was studied by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry techniques for caffeine detection. This sensor electrode shows a detection limit of 5.7 μM and high sensitivity of 14,125 μA mΜ−1 cm−2 with a linear response range of 0.02 to 2.0 mM for caffeine detection. This sensor is utilized to detect caffeine concentration in coffee and tea samples.
