Abstract

We develop and apply a reservoir characterization workflow based on a single framework provided by the Bayesian method of inference. The main objective is to make inferences about porosity, lithology and saturation, using prestack seismic data, well logs and core data. We show that the uncertainty associated with saturation estimates is very large, making it only adequate as a semiquantitative fluid indicator. The application involves two different conventional seismic streamer data from a Campos Basin reservoir. By comparing the reservoir characterization products from both seismic volumes, we find time-lapse production effects which are consistent with production and conventional 4D data interpretation.
