Abstract

Abstract There was a time in this current wave of feminism when the words lesbianism and feminism went together–when there was a political movement of lesbian feminism. Today, one hears more about lesbian sado-masochism, lesbian pornography and everything lesbians need to know about sex–what has fashionably come to be called the ‘politics of desire’. And so it becomes necessary to distinguish between lesbianism as a political movement and lesbianism as a lifestyle –what has, for many, come to be a sexual preference without a feminist politics.
