Abstract

As in Baudelaire's essays, artificial paradises, well-used drugs such as opium can stimulate a sense of well-being and absence of pain. Although with the risks of dependence, intoxication and even death, the need for powerful painkillers has led to the production of synthetic drugs of easy manufacture and low cost such as fentanyl that in the wrong hands, for illicit purposes and without specialized medical supervision, are a deadly weapon. Is it worth taking the risks looking for paradise lost?
