Abstract

Background and Aim: Non-invasive tests (NITs) are utilized as screening tools, prior to liver biopsy, for assessment of fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Data from Asian countries suggest that these tests have poor performance. We aimed to assess the performance of existing NITs to predict the presence of advanced fibrosis (AF) and identify an optimum combination of biomarker-based NIT and transient elastography (TE).
