Abstract

Polymer analogous reaction has been used to partially substitute chlorine atoms of polyvinyl chloride with 2-thiobenzimidazole fragments. 13C NMR and IR spectroscopy studies have shown that the vinylene units are present in the modified polymer. The copolymer product has been used to prepare the membrane with proton conductivity of 1 × 10−2 to 0.04 S/cm at 25–195°C.
