Abstract

Using an electro-spinning technique or a dip-coating method, porous poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC) tubular structures with different morphological and mechanical properties were prepared. The mechanical strength and elasticity of the porous PTMC structures are superior to those of natural blood vessels. The results allow us to further study the seeding and culturing of different cells relevant for tissue engineering of small-diameter blood vessels in a homemade pulsatile bioreactor system.
