Abstract

Considering polyhedra as particular cases of objects known as polytopes, which are the analogies of polyhedra in spaces with dimensions greater than three, makes it possible to discover characteristics that were not immediately apparent before. The method used by Alicia Boole Stott to discover the sections of four-dimensional polytopes relied on these analogies. The method of sections also makes it possible to discover a great number of connections between the theory of polytopes and other branches of mathematics.
