Abstract

An amperometric enzymeless glucose sensor using core–shell nanocomposite based on chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole on ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles surface was investigated in this study. ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles and ZnFe2O4/PPy nanoparticles showed electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of glucose in alkaline solution. The electrochemical performance of the modified electrodes was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) method. The results demonstrated that this nanocomposite with the proper concentration of PPy displayed enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of glucose in 0.1M NaOH solution. The modified sensor possesses good linear response in glucose concentration with an appropriate linear range up to 8.0mM (R2=0.9943) and good sensitivity to glucose (145.36μAmM−1) with a detection limit of 0.1mM, at room temperature.
