Abstract
A 13-year-old girl diagnosed as polyostotic fibrous dysplasia on plain radiography and histopathology presented with diffuse bone pain. F-18 FDG PET/CT scan was performed to establish the extent of bone involvement, which revealed increased radiotracer uptake at multiple sites. The CT images clearly depicted the extent of each individual lesion along with associated complications. The volume rendered images provided an excellent 3-dimensional representation of the entire skeletal system. Bone scintigraphy, plain radiography, and CT scans are the traditionally employed imaging modalities for evaluation of this rare entity. F-18 FDG PET/CT with its superior spatial resolution and added advantage of lesion characterization could serve as a 1-stop shop for evaluation of this unusual disease.
