Abstract
This paper is concerned with two-dimensional parallel beam tomography. We investigate the computational effectiveness of the general approach outlined in a previous paper by one of us. That approach was based on reconstructions by means of convolution with a polynomial kernel. Here we consider only the case of uniformly spaced views to take advantage of the symmetry. In this case we give a class of algorithms and calculate several numerical examples. We also obtain estimates on the expected mean square error when the data is perturbed by white noise. These estimates lead to several surprising applications.
