Abstract

The textures of ferroelectric liquid crystal D-4-(2-methylbutoxy) phenyl 4-dodecyloxybenzoate (MBOPDoOB) were observed using polarizing microscope during cooling. At different cooling rates, two kinds of textures of solid phases were observed. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman scattering were used to investigate the structure and vibrational properties of the quench-induced metastable phase.
