Abstract

Polymodernity could be defined as cultural infrastructure. It describes the cultural evolution of the human species in four cultural codes and integrates them: indigenous, traditional, modern, and postmodern. These four cultural codes very much relate to group sizes, and they represent four different kinds of social interaction, cooperation, economy, moral values, media, and much more. In this article, I describe the economy as a structure of five integrated layers. The first is nature itself; the other four are economic models with different goals, dynamics, rules, measurements, criteria for success, and opportunities for sustainability and thriving. All five layers are present in thriving economies. This article presents a suggestion for a macro-economic model that can deliberately balance them.
