Abstract
A 2×2 polymer-waveguide-based vertical coupler was designed and fabricated. The relationships between the coupling efficiency and the key optical design parameters of vertical coupler (such as the crossing angle, gap thickness between two waveguide layers and the waveguide dimensions) were investigated by using beam propagation method. Based on these simulations, a fully polymer vertical coupler was demonstrated.
