Abstract

Polydl-lactide (PLA) and polydl-lactide-co-polyethylene glycol (PELA) were synthesized by using allylmagnesium chloride as an initiator. The reaction conditions of homo-polymerization of dl-lactide such as reaction time, reaction temperature and monomer/initiator molar ratio are discussed. The polymer was characterized by 1H-NMR, IR, DSC and GPC. The results indicate that allylmagnesium chloride is quite effective for the ring-opening polymerization of LA.
