Abstract
In this work, the kinetics of the condensation polymerization of ethylene dichloride and sodium tetrasulfide is studied. The resulting polymer is characterized by FT-IR, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), elemental analyses (CHN), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis. The activation energy of the condensation polymerization obtained from an Arrhenius plot is 97.2 kJ mol−1, and the pre-exponential frequency factor is A = 24.2 min−1 at a temperature range of 50–70 °C.
