Abstract
1. The polymerization of 2-chloroacrolein was carried out for the first time by ionic and radical mechanisms. The properties of the polymers obtained were studied. 2. The radical polymerization of 2-chloroacrolein in the presence of a redox system goes at carbon-carbon bonds with formation of a poly-2-chloroacrolein with a molecular weight of greater than 70,000. In polymerization by an ionic mechanism in the presence of stannous chloride and by a radical mechanism in the presence of hydrogen peroxide 2-chloroacrolein polymers of low molecular weight (oligomers) were formed. 3. In the UV irradiation of the polymer in the presence of a sensitizer (butanone), a change in some of its properties is observed.
