Abstract

Owing to their various functionalities and high processability, hybrid materials consisting of polymers and metal–organic frameworks have attracted interest in a variety of applications. In this study, the catalytic application of poly (amic acid) (PAA)/ZIF‐67 nanocomposite in the Biginelli reaction was examined. First, PAA/ZIF‐67 nanocomposite was fabricated and identified by Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X‐ray, simultaneous thermal analysis, and Brunauer‐Teller techniques. The constructed composite was then utilized in the Biginelli reaction of various aldehydes with urea and ethyl acetoacetate under solvent‐free reaction conditions to afford dihydropyrimidones in high yields. This composite reveals outstanding catalytic activity, reproducible dispersibility, and stability. Also, PAA/ZIF‐67 composite was efficiently recycled several times without a noticeable decrease in activity.
