Abstract

An experimental method is presented for the preparation of polymer layers that are protective against corrosion and abrasion and transparent in the IR on electrodeposited selective absorbers in solar collectors. The coatings are applied to black nickel surfaces prepared from standard electrolytes and to black chrome absorbers prepared from a sulphate-free mixture of CrO 2+CH 3COOH+BaCO 3+fluoro-surfactant electrolyte. The polymer-coated black nickel and black chrome surfaces possess long-term stability under severe corrosion test conditions.
