Abstract

A polyimide-based flexible 3-coil inductive power transfer link is proposed to improve the power transfer efficiency (PTE) for implantable medical devices (IMDs). An iterative design procedure is devised to obtain the optimal coil geometries of the 3-coil inductive link. A design example that is optimized for a 40.68MHz carrier frequency with a coupling distance of 15mm is presented. The results have been verified through simulations and measurements.
