Abstract

Hydrogen reacts with [Pt(C2H4)2(PBu3t)] to give the triangular complex [Pt3H6(PBu3t)3](1) which is dehydrogenated with C2H4 to form the tetrahedral complex [Pt4H2(PBu3t)4](2), whereas [Pt(C2H4)2(PPr2iPh)] reacts with hydrogen yielding directly the four-metal-atom sphenoidal cluster [Pt4H8(PPr2iPh)4](3).
