Abstract

Mixtures of polyhalogenated monoterpenes, first observed among the constituents of the digestive gland of the sea hare Aplysia californica, have been isolated from Plocamium species. The structures of eleven polyhalogenated monoterpenes from Plocamium cartilagineum have been determined by spectroscopic methods. All structures are based on the 3,7-dimethyl-1,5,7-octatriene skeleton.
