Abstract

Polyelectrolyte complexes of poly(diallyl- N, N-dimethylammoniumchloride) (PDADMAC) and dextransulphate (DexSul) were formed and characterised. The complex stöchiometry found is 2:1. It depends neither on the PDADMAC molar mass nor on the DexSul molar mass. The degree of complexation is smaller than one and depends on the concentration of the added low molecular salt. The complexes behave like salts. In solution we have a solute and a solid phase. This equilibrium can be disturbed by changing the low molecular salt concentration.
