Abstract
The synthesis of polycrystalline H 3O +-β/β″-Al 2O 3 ceramics is described. Design principals are detailed wherein the appropriate strength and conductivity are developed in a precursor K/Na-β/β″-Al 2O 3 ceramic based on microstructural refinement and mixed-alkali/percolation principals respectively. The resulting polycrystals are evaluated in ion exchange and steam electrolysis cells at 100° and 300°C.
