Abstract

AbstractA new family of thermoplastic polyamide–polyether copolymers that display outstanding impact resistance and are especially useful as hot melt adhesives are described. These polymers are prepared by copolymerizationof polymerized fatty acid derivatives (dimer diamines) and poly(oxyalkylene) diamines with the typical polyamide monomers sebacic acid and piperazine. Impact resistance is apparently achieved through synergistic interaction between the dimer and the polyether portions of the polymers.
