Abstract

Temperature dependences of the 19F NMR spectra and 19F and 1H NMR multipulse spin-locking relaxation time T 2e have been studied in the samples of poly-(p-phenylene) ( PP ) doped with arsenic fluorides from gas phase or electrochemically. The irreversible spectra changes observed in both the cases under heating indicate the decomposition of the polymer ion-radical salt PP +. (AsF 6) − formed on doping. The process is independent of the doping mode and is determined by an electron back transfer to the polymer ion-radical due to its high oxidative potential. From relaxation data the activation parameters of molecular mobility have been determined.
