Abstract

Objectives: Mesenteric dysfunction is a rare but severe complication after cardiac surgery, which may be related to free radical production and subsequent activation of poly-ADP-ribose synthase (PARS). We investigated the effects of PARS-inhibition on intestinal injury in a canine model of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
