Abstract

I Objective: To analyze the care to patients with hypertension and diabetes in primary care since the implementation and development of public policies. Methodology: It was conducted a systematic literature review of studies conducted in Brazil, available in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE and SciELO , published in the period of 1991 to 2010. Results: 42% were cross-sectional studies, 50% used interviews and / or questionnaires, and 42% were developed in Health Centres. The main results are related to the control of blood pressure and blood glucose, monitoring of users, accessibility, and adopting a pharmacological approach, diet and exercise. Conclusion: There is the need for further evaluation of services including analysis of the real impact of the relationship between professionals, management and community on the care of patients with hypertension and diabetes.
