Abstract

This investigation had the objective of analyze the health policies, the organization and the social mobility in a rural area belonging to the territory of a Family Health Unity (USF) in the perspective of key informant. The members of neighborhood associations and the workers of a Family Health Unity (USF) were the participants in this study. Semi-structured interview was used for the data collection and processing, followed by content analysis, thematic modality. This process allowed us to highlight nuclei of meaning that were grouped into themes, namely, ineffective city government program for the management of health necessities; challenges in access to health services at different levels of health care; polarity in relation to the work process in primary care; challenges facing the implementation of the Health Councils; limits and possibilities for rural residents to access the urban area. This research allowed nursing and medical students to early experience the organization and the functioning of SUS services, especially the health care developed for residents of a rural region. In addition, it made it possible to understand dimensions of the process of living, falling ill and dying.
